The Mandrake (マンドレイク, Mandoreiku?), also known as the Plant Man, is a recurring creature in the Final Fantasy series, first appearing in Final Fantasy Adventure. It typically appears as a plant-based enemy and attacks with variations of Drain and Vampire to absorb damage and heal itself. As a plant, it is weak to Fire-elemental attacks.

Final Fantasy III
The Mandrake appears as an enemy exclusive to the 3D remake and subsequent releases, encountered near Canaan and Vikings' Cove. While it exists in the code of the original release, it is dummied and cannot be encountered in normal gameplay.
Final Fantasy V
The Mandrake appears as an enemy encountered on the Gloceana continent of the second world. It attacks with Digestive Acid, draining HP from its target.
Final Fantasy VI
The Mandrake appear as an enemy encountered on the mountain slopes of the Esper Caves. It has a chance to counter attacks with Leech, damaging the target and healing itself, and every three turns may use Stonetouch to inflict Petrify.
Crisis Core -Final Fantasy VII-
The Mandrake appears as an enemy encountered during the missions "An Unknown Island," "Space Development Dept.," and "To the End." It attacks with Hysteric Voices and Tri-Fire.
Final Fantasy VII Rebirth
The Mandrake appears as a Fiend Intel enemy encountered in the Grasslands.
Final Fantasy XIII-2
The Mandrake appears as an enemy encountered in Yaschas Massif -010 AF-. It can be recruited into the Paradigm Pack as a Commando, and relies on increasing Strength. Among its abilities is Stagger: Drain, which allows it to heal itself by draining HP from staggered enemies.
Final Fantasy XIV
The Mandrake appears as a crafting reagent acquired from harvesting in the Bloodshore region of Eastern La Noscea. It can be used for crafting Hi-Ethers and Paralyzing Potions.
Final Fantasy XV
The Mandrake appears as an enemy encountered in the Myrlwood and Malmalam Thicket. It is a level 32 enemy which is capable of inflicting the Mollified and Confusion statuses.

Mandrake is another name for the mandragora genus of plants. Mandragora is a plant belonging to the nightshade family. According to legends surrounding witchcraft, when mandragoras (Mandrake plants) are uprooted, they emit a piercing scream which kills all who hear it.
