The mandragora (マンドラゴラ, mandoragora?) is a recurring creature in the Final Fantasy series. While it debuted in Final Fantasy VII, its now iconic appearance as a walking bulbous vegetable first appeared in Final Fantasy XI. It has appeared as an enemy and a summon, and is always plant-like in appearance. A group of elite mandragora variants, collectively referred to as simply the Mandragoras, appear as recurring bosses.

Final Fantasy VII
The mandragora appears as an enemy encountered in the Grasslands Area. It is a weak monster that is of no threat to the party.
Crisis Core -Final Fantasy VII-
The mandragora appears as an enemy encountered during the missions "Buried in the Caverns," "Mystery Materia," and "ATK Mako Stone." It usually appears in swarms but can easily be dispatched in a few attacks.
Final Fantasy VII Rebirth
The mandragora appears as an enemy encountered in the Grasslands.
Final Fantasy IX
The mandragora appears as an enemy encountered in several regions of the Mist Continent. It can be a potentially dangerous enemy owing to its Chestnut special attack, which deals fixed damage equal to the amount of damage the mandragora has taken.
Final Fantasy X
The mandragora appears as an enemy encountered outside of the Zanarkand Dome. it is a relatively powerful owing to its access to the powerful Earthquake ability, and its Ochu Dance can inflict Confuse, Darkness, Slow, and Silence on all characters. Its physical attack can also inflict Poison.
Final Fantasy XI
The mandragora appears as a family of plantoid enemies, and a familiar sight on Mindartia and Elshimo Island, with the common Mandragora being encountered in East and West Sarutabaruta. Most mandragoras are white with a green leaf on their head, but there are a few malicious ones colored black with an autumn red leaf on their head. A third type, the lycopodium, have a flower instead of a leaf, and have been seen on the war-torn battlefields during the Crystal War.
Final Fantasy XII
The mandragora appears as a genus of enemies commonly found throughout the world of Ivalice. The common mandragora can be encountered on the Phon Coast.
Final Fantasy XIV
The mandragora appears as a family of seedkin encountered primarily in La Noscea, though the common mandragora appears as a low-level enemy in the Honey Yard region of the East Shroud. Several variants of the mandragora can be obtained as minions.
Final Fantasy Type-0
The mandragora appears as an enemy encountered in the Old Lorica Region and during the mission "Invasion of the Rursus".
Final Fantasy: The 4 Heroes of Light
The mandragora appears as an enemy encountered in the Arbor, Great Tree Roots, and Trial Tower.

Dissidia Final Fantasy / Dissidia 012 Final Fantasy
The mandragora appears as a summon using artwork from its Final Fantasy XI appearance. It casts Photosynthesis when summoned, rapidly returning the summoner's bravery value to its base value should it fall below that value for its duration. In the original game, the mandragora can be obtained as a Stage Bonus during the Destiny Odyssey I storyline. In 012, it is instead purchased from from certain moogle shops for 20 KP.

Etymology
Mandragora is a plant belonging to the nightshade family. According to legends surrounding witchcraft, when mandragoras (Mandrake plants) are uprooted, they emit a piercing scream which kills all who hear it.
