Upgrade (かいぞう, Kaizō?, lit. Remodel) is a recurring ability in the Final Fantasy series.

Final Fantasy IV

Upgrade is a command ability found exclusively in the 3D versions. It is an ability initially usable by Cid, but can be learned by anyone who uses the Upgrade augment obtained at the Dwarven Castle from Cid after he modifies the Falcon. Cid must have been given at least one augment before leaving the party to get Upgrade the augment.

Upgrade allows the user to use one elemental item in the player's inventory to change the element on their weapon to the element of the item used. As with items, it has a Charge Time of 1.
