PlayStation 5 description

Trinity Strike is an ability for Tifa in Final Fantasy VII Rebirth. Though considered a weapon ability for Tifa, it is obtained from her folio. When used on a target, using the basic attack button with the correct timing will unleash three powerful, successively stronger, martial arts attacks.

Obtained

Trinity Strike is unlocked from Tifa's folio. The skill core to unlock it costs 20 SP, and it is only available after reaching party level 8. This means the ability that will be acquired late into the game.

Mechanics

Upon activating Trinity Strike and targeting an enemy, the first of three attacks will land. An indicator will then appear, and using the attack button at the right moment will launch the next attack, which comprises three hits, followed by an indicator for the third and final attack, a single hit when she launches forward to hit the opponent in an explosive move.

During Trinity Strike, Tifa will not be interrupted by most small attacks, but strong attacks can interrupt her.

Use

Correctly using Trinity Strike requires proper timing, and requires her to not be interrupted during the combo. The inputs must be timed for when the indicator appears on-screen to get the attack and damage off. If a player can master this timing, and pull off the entire combo, Trinity Strike is Tifa's strongest potential attack, dealing damage comparable even to her limit breaks. The damage is based on her Attack Power Attack Power, as it is a physical damage-based attack.

Though it can deal the most damage of any attack that costs one ATB charge, the biggest drawback to the ability is that getting the most out of it is entirely reliant on pulling off the entire combo. Tifa cannot be interrupted between the attacks, and the timing must be perfect to maximize damage. Ways around this are using it against enemies that she has stun-locked with her other attacks, enemies that cannot interrupt, or enemies who are staggered and unable to respond.

Trinity Strike can be used after Starshower to increase damage further. A very effective use of Trinity Strike is casting Stop Stop against a vulnerable foe, particularly during stagger. When used against staggered foes, using True Strike, and/or her Unbridled Strength moves Rise and Fall and Omnistrike, is ideal to boost that damage first, but one must be careful to extend stagger by casting Stop or by using a synergy abilities so that stagger does not expire before she finishes the Trinity Strike combo.
