The Umbrella (アンブレラ, Anburera?), or the Parasol or Sun Umbrella, is a recurring joke weapon in the Final Fantasy VII series.

Appearances

Final Fantasy VII

The Umbrella (Parasol in the BradyGames guide) first appears as a staff for Aeris. It can be won at the Gold Saucer on disc 1 by scoring at least 5,000 points in the Speed Square. It provides 58 attack, 118 Hit Rate, 10 Magic, and +20 Vitality, but has no Materia slots. It is of the Hit attribute, like all of Aeris's weapons. It is unique in that the player can only obtain it once. It must be obtained before passing through the atmospheric wall on Whirlwind Maze or the player will miss it, though the player is best obtaining it the earliest as Aeris will leave the party at the end of Temple of the Ancients. Umbrella is one of only three weapons that give the player a Critical% rate of +5, which is the highest possible increase.

Crisis Core -Final Fantasy VII-

Zack fights briefly with a parasol when in his swimsuit while visiting Costa del Sol, and uses it to defeat Genesis's forces. Zack also uses the parasol with the attire in the M10: Mysteries of the World section of Missions. During the Fun in the Sun! and More Fun in the Sun! sections the player will battle single enemies, a group of enemies, or a number of respawning enemies in one encounter on the beaches of Costa del Sol.

Final Fantasy VII Ever Crisis

The Umbrella and Sun Umbrella are weapons for Aerith. The Beach Parasol is a weapon for Zack.

Umbrella is a rarity 5 rod that provides a minimum of 52 Attack, 15 Defense, and 52 Magic, and a maximum of 88 Attack, 50 Defense, and 88 Magic. It can be upgraded to rarity 7 where it provides a minimum of 99 Attack, 18 Defense, and 99 Magic, a maximum of 171 Attack, 72 Defense, and 171 Magic, and Limit Break +3000. It can only be equipped by Aerith.
