The papyrus codex]], known as "Papyrus Plate" in the PlayStation version, is a book that provides 9 attack and 15% weapon defense. Like all books, it can only attack tiles exactly three squares away from the attacker. It can bought for 10,000 gil at outfitters at trade cities after the events in Monastery Vaults in chapter 3, and found as a rare treasure at Free City of Bervenia, obtained from enemy random battle LV34+ enemy mystics and arithmeticians, and caught from level 90–94 enemy ninjas.
