Final Fantasy Tactics A2: Grimoire of the Rift description
Save the Queen (セーブザクイーン or セイブザクィーン or セイブザクイーン, Sēbu za Kuīn?) is a weapon of differing types, most often a powerful sword, first appearing in Final Fantasy Tactics. It is often a powerful weapon for female characters or Paladins, although other classes can also use it. The weapon is many times (but not always) given defensive-oriented properties.
Appearances
Final Fantasy III
In the 3D remakes, the Save the Queen is awarded to level 99 Knights by the Legendary Smith. It provides 140 Attack and +10 Mind and Vitality, and when used as an item, casts the Reflect spell.
Final Fantasy VI
Treasured sword of a renowned general.
Description
Save the Queen is Celes's ultimate weapon in the Advance and 2014 versions, gained by defeating the Blue Dragon in the Dragons' Den, or by betting the Apocalypse in the Dragon's Neck Coliseum. It has an attack power of 240, +7 Magic, +4 Speed, +3 Stamina and +40% Evasion and Magic Evasion. It enables the Bushido and Runic commands.
The sword's description states that it was wielded by a renowned general, a possible reference to Beatrix from Final Fantasy IX.
Final Fantasy VII Ever Crisis
The Final Fantasy IX version of Save the Queen appeared under the name "Beatrix Sword". It is a sword for Zack Fair that can be obtained during the Reawakened crossover event through limited Stamp Draws.
Final Fantasy VIII

The Save the Queen is a weapon exclusive to Beatrix. It has an attack power of 23, and gives 2 Strength, 1 Speed, 2 Magic, and 5 Spirit. Though the sword's attack power is low, it has a special damage algorithm that adds the user's level to its Attack power, making it the strongest weapon if the user is around or above level 85.
Save the Queen can be obtained by synthesizing through Hades in Memoria, but no party member can equip it. However, it can be thrown.
Save the Queen has a Tetra Master card.
Final Fantasy X

Final Fantasy XIV
Save the Queen is a sword the Allagan Empire crafted from auracite. Brought to the Source by Ultima, the High Seraph, auracite contains vast power that resonates with a mortal's desires, giving them concrete form. In their quest to artificially improve upon this natural phenomenon, the Allagans created a blade that forges the wielder's deepest desires into a trigger for calling forth an eikon. Their goal was to bend said eikon to their will, a feat only accomplished by possessing the power of the Echo. It is unknown how Save the Queen came to ancient Bozja; they lacked the military might to seize or steal it, and were unlikely to have been favored enough to receive it as a gift. Historians believe an Allagan defector may have given it to Bozja. It became known as the holy blade of Bozja, and only the legendary Queen Gunnhildr could wield it.
Bozjan legend held that Gunnhildr stabbed herself with it to save her people from the Fourth Umbral Calamity, deifying herself in the process. In truth, the queen feared losing her humanity to the sword and refused to use it, so Gunnhildr's Blades plotted to protect their position by overthrowing the queen and instating a puppet ruler: a minor shrinemaiden of the Votyasch tribe, who used Save the Queen to become a primal. When they realized that the new Queen Gunnhildr had the Echo, leaving her lucid and beyond the Blades' control, they killed her.
After Bozja rebels against the Garlean Empire, the IVth Imperial Legion recovers the blade and gives it to their spy in the Bozjan Resistance, Misija Votyasch, a descendant of the shrinemaiden-made-queen. After the Resistance takes Castrum Lacus Litore, Misija forces the Warrior of Light to peer into the blade's memories, allowing her to alter them and summon Queen Gunnhildr, who tempers the new generation of Gunnhildr's Blades.
Misija takes her new servants into the ruins of Delubrum Reginae, where she uses the blade's power to fuse them into powerful soldiers. At the ruin's heart, she draws upon Save the Queen's full power to become an avatar of Queen Gunnhildr herself, but Mikoto and the Warrior of Light defeat her. The Bozjan Resistance retrieves the apparently-dormant sword, and allows the blacksmith Gerolt to study it in hopes of creating new weapons.
During the events at Zadnor, Save the Queen appears to Misija in her cell, who takes it and teleports away. Following the siege of the Dalriada, the Allagan superweapon Diablo Armament threatens to level Zadnor, but is stopped by an intervening Misija, who channels Gunnhildr's power once more to destroy the weapon. Her sacrificial act mortally wounds Misija and drains any remaining power from the blade.

FFVIII description
A knight's blade from the faraway world of Gaia. The blade is very fine and beautiful, and was the choice weapon used by a female general who swore her loyalty to the queen of Alexandria. It is said that she faced the crisis that struck Alexandria with this sword in hand.
FFIX description
A sword given as proof of having taken an oath of loyalty. The spirit of integrity and tenacity that lives within this blade creates an invisible barrier that protects its wielder. It is one of the most prestigious honors a knight may ever receive, and extremely rare even among those sworn to serve the royal family. A knight's ability with the sword alone would not suffice to earn him this weapon, as he must first prove his high level of education and unshakable loyalty. Only those knights who meet all of the requirements may wield this blade.

Kingdom Hearts series
Save the Queen is Donald's ultimate weapon in Kingdom Hearts, Kingdom Hearts II and Kingdom Hearts III. It is a staff rather than the traditional sword. In Kingdom Hearts, it is the reward for winning the Hades Cup tournament at the Olympus Coliseum, and in Kingdom Hearts II and Kingdom Hearts III it is a synthesizable weapon. A stronger version of the weapon can also be synthesized, called "Save the Queen+".
Goofy has a weapon called Save the King, which is the most powerful shield, and, like Save the Queen, it also has an upgraded version called Save the King+. While an obvious reference to Final Fantasy, there has never been an equipment piece in Final Fantasy called Save the King, shield or otherwise. The paired name was likely given to reference Donald and Goofy's duty to protect Queen Minnie and King Mickey while playing off of the series reference.
Blood of Bahamut
Save the Queen is a gun that can be equipped by Ryuma.
Dungeon Encounters
Save the Queen is a Sword-type weapon that drops from the Behemoth enemy. It has a Proficiency Point cost of 38 and deals 15,200 Fixed Physical Melee damage to a single target.

Merchandise
Beatrix from Final Fantasy IX is bundled with Freya for the Bring Arts series of figurines. The 6″ scale figures include a number of interchangeable parts and accessories. Beatrix comes with the Save the Queen sword.
Etymology
"Save the Queen" derives from "God Save the Queen", the anthem that was used in a number of Commonwealth realms, their territories, and the British Crown Dependencies while under the rule of a Queen Regnant. From 1952 until her death in 2022, Great Britain and the Commonwealth were ruled by Queen Elizabeth II and therefore this was the style of the anthem throughout her reign. It is likely a reference that many players outside of Japan would be familiar with, as nearly the entire Final Fantasy series was developed within Elizabeth II's reign.
