Phaenna, known originally by the catalogue number UL 9-6, is a cosmic exploration star in Final Fantasy XIV. Located within the sea of stars, three carrots from Hydaelyn, it is the second area visited in cosmic exploration. Heavily silicone based, the entire planet is composed of glass and glass-like objects and entities, from the liquid glass water, molten glass volcanic activity, and the glass-like flora.
Profile
The sixth planet in the UL 9 star system, Phaenna was discovered by the joint Loporrit-Sharlayan Cosmic Exploration Initiative and reached through the Galactic Way spaceship. Said to be "three carrots from Etheirys", the planet is composed entirely of glass, from the clouds in the sky, to the water on the surface, to the magma veins below. Though this environment is not conductive to organic life, various types of inorganic flora exist. The weather on Phaenna can reach extremes, including glass rain, annealing winds, and thunderstorms. The mineral phainite can be mined from the surface of the planet by usage of vacuum suit.
Gameplay
Phaenna acts as the second cosmic exploration area, added to the game with patch 7.31.

Etymology
The star was named Phaenna by Namingway due to its prismatic and luminous appearance from space. "Phaenna" (Greek: Φαέννα, Faénna, lit. "[the] Shining"), is a Charity in Greek mythology, one of two worshipped by Spartans, alongside Cleta. Charities were a group of goddesses that embodied beauty and grace.
