Mutated beings that somehow fuse with the people in black robes. Protected by a tough exoskeleton and myriad appendages, they stalk toward their prey, slashing as they go.
Enemy Intel
Necrotic Entity is an enemy in Final Fantasy VII Rebirth, encountered in the Shinra-8 cruise ship during Chapter 5, fought with Cloud and Tifa.
The creature is later fought in Costa del Sol prior to the battle against the Grasptropod in Chapter 6. It is also fought in the Shinra Manor's Chadley Combat Simulator in the Nibel Region.
They are black-robed men which have been assimilated by the Experimental Varghidpolis, creatures infused with Jenova's cells created by Shinra's R&D Division. Professor Hojo later captures some of these abominations to acquire their DNA samples in order to further fuel his research.
Stats
Battle
Experimental Vaghidpolis assimiliating with the black-robed men.
The Necrotic Entity primarily strikes with their large claw-like limbs, but it can also cast Fira against a single target.
Subastral Fury is a three-hit attack executed in quick succession. Onlaught is powerful claw strike that is executed twice; the second strike has the creature leaping high in the air and slamming down to the ground.
When the Necrotic Entity uses Agonizing Pain, it'll temporarily halt, seemingly vulnerable; attacking it in this state will result in a backlash, Screech, which inflicts
Stun to all party members in a radius around the creature. This attack is reminiscent of the Experimental Vaghidpolis' Deafening Screech attack.
The Necrotic Entity has no elemental weaknesses.
Strategy
Hitting them with powerful offensive abilities while they are casting a spell will pressure them. Evading Onslaught or attacking them during Subastral Fury will also pressure them.
Enemy Intel's assess information
The Necrotic Entity is a resilient abomination, with high HP and being hard to flinch normally as it has no weaknesses to exploit. However, there are several ways to pressure it.
Subastral Fury can be blocked, as well countered with Cloud's Punisher Mode, which will pressure it. The first hit of Onslaught can also be blocked or countered, but the second hit is unblockable; because of that, it's best to block the first hit and avoid the second by dodging directly forward and underneath the creature when it leaps, which will also pressure it.
Whenever the Necrotic Entity begins casting Fira, it's recommended to hit it with powerful abilities or spells to interrupt and pressure it.
Hard Mode
The Necrotic Entity is slightly more aggressive in the hard difficulty. It'll use Onslaught more often.
With endgame materia and equipment it can be dispatched without many issues.
