Experimental specimens created by Shinra’s R&D Division. Though originally human, countless cellular transplants from various poisonous plants and fungi have altered their genetic composition, turning them into monsters boasting impressive vitality.
Enemy Intel
Amalgam is an enemy in Final Fantasy VII Rebirth, encountered in the Gongaga Reactor.
Stats
Battle
The Amalgam is a slow moving abomination covered in pustules and blisters. It moves slowly for most of the time, but can attack with Swipe, where it quickly dashes forward to claw its opponents.
The creature's primary attack is Spore Dispersal, where it lifts its arms high in the air and forcefully slams its body down on the ground, releasing a shockwave it that knocks down opponents around it. The attack also creates a toxic zone that lasts for around seven seconds and deals consecutive damage to characters that enter its radius. This attack cannot be blocked, but is telegraphed and easy to avoid.
After killed, the Amalgam will revive itself moments later, up to two times; the first time it returns with 50% with of its max HP, and 25% in the second time. If defeated with
Fire spells the creature will burn and won't revive.
Strategy
The Amalgam is a simple enemy to deal with, as it moves slowly and attacks in a telegraphed way. The abomination is severely weak to
Fire damage; a single cast of Fire will make it cower while burning, interrupting any attacks and dealing damage-over-time to it.
However, since the fight against the Amalgams is followed immediately by the Specimen H1024 boss, which is immune to
Fire, it's recommended to equip the
Fire and Ice Materia, as the boss is weak to
Ice.
On Hard Mode, the Amalgam is slightly more aggressive and will use Spore Dispersal more often, but is equally easy to dispatch.
