Waljas.
Waljas is the name of the Dominant of Leviathan in Final Fantasy XVI, who is only met in the DLC episode "The Rising Tide". He was found to be the Dominant during his infancy.
History
Early life
Waljas was born in Mysidia, and his parents were Shula and Famiel's ancestors. Once he was determined to be a Dominant, a plan was hatched by their people, the Motes of Water. The Mothercrystal of Drake's Eye had long been failing, and it was believed that a suitable source of power would be needed lest the Blight manifest. It was believed that a Dominant could create a new Mothercrystal from knowledge they obtained from the Sagespire, and thus the Elders of Mysidia deemed Waljas a sacrifice to save their land and people.
Leviathan sensed the foul intent and awakened within Waljas. The resulting waterspout would have wiped out the village, had a backup plan not been implemented. Several decades prior, a witch known as Ysay, the Dominant of Shiva, had crafted a Chronomancy spell that had been hoped to be used to prevent the fall of Drake's Eye. While that plan failed due to the spell being incomplete, research on the spell had continued, and the now-completed version was cast on Waljas, freezing him in time at the moment of his priming, stopping him and the powerful wave he had cast.
For eighty years, Waljas remained frozen in the moment of his priming, never aging.
Return
In "The Rising Tide" Shula contacted Clive Rosfield after hearing tales of how "Cid the Outlaw" handled rogue Dominants and out of control Eikons. Shula met him outside of Sanbreque along with Jill Warrick and Joshua Rosfield, where they agreed to come to Mysidia. Waljas, at first, reacted calmly when Clive attempted to remove Leviathan from him but an egi was created as a result. It was defeated, but Waljas created more. Clive, Shula, and Jill headed to the Vare of Hours, where the Chronomancy spell had been cast, while Joshua protected Mysidia from Waljas's egis.
After the spell ended, Ultima helped break the seal to awaken Leviathan. Waljas was subsumed by the beast and engaged in battle with Clive. Clive subdued Leviathan and brought Waljas back to normal and he was adopted by Shula and Famiel.
After Waljas was brought to the village, Clive assisted with the ritual to welcome Waljas into the village. Shula suggested that when he was older, she would teach him to use a battleaxe properly.
