Dissidia PS3? What it needs to touch up on and what it needs to add

Ah Dissidia. Square's attempt at making a fun all-star fightning game that can compete with SSB. Well, it can't compete with SSB, because these fighters come from one franchise, but those are details, right? Dissidia is awesome. AWESOME. I even had to use red to prove my point. It's a RPG mixed with a fighter, but more RPG than fighter. It has an all-star cast and the game is FILLED with customization, leveling up, and extras. But, with all games, it has flaws.

FLAW #1 THAT GETS ON MY NERVES:

The sequel was for the PSP. Seriously Square, the PSP is a dying portable. You probably had news of the Vita so you could have moved production to the PS3, making a better experience with: graphics, music, characters, and the goddamn story. I don't know about you, but I don't like to stare and button mash at a 5 inch screen for 82 hours.

FLAW #2 THAT GETS ON MY NERVES:

The story sucks. I mean, is there a story at all? I get it, you're trying to defeat the God Chaos and bring peace to the world. Isn't that (basically) FF1's plot? Sure, you moved things around a bit, added all the baddass villians from pass games, but isn't it the same exact story? And FF1's story is barely there anyway. And the way that they tell the story gets on my nerves. What happened to the beautiful cutscenes that Final Fantasy is known for? All I see is....lip flap, awkward poses, and monotone voices.

AND FINALLY, FLAW #3 THAT GETS ON MY NERVES:

What. In the world. Happened. To the cutscenes?? THEY SUCK. First of all, there are only two CGI cutscenes in the whole game, right? All the other cutscenes have no life. The characters just stand there, lifelessly lip-flapping away. The occasional blink and hand gesture stirs the lifeless scene. All they do is stand around and talk about how to get their crystals. That's all they ever do. The only time a cutscene is good is when there is a boss fight. That's it. The voice acting is hit-and-miss (totally reminded me of X). And one more thing I have to ramble about: Square, please stop with the moaning!! I'm sick and tired of hearing Cloud doubt himself every second. Not just Cloud, everyone does it. IT'S ANNOYING!!!

So, SquallRocks, how do you fix it?

  1. Put it on the effing PS3.
  2. Make the game look presentable. It's understandable that they were PS2-esque in the PSP, but for PS3? You gotta make the game look gorgeous. FFXIII graphics is welcomed.
  3. A world map WITH actual, explorable towns. The world map was a welcomed feature in Duodecim, but it was boring. I don't even know why they added it. You just run around to the next, chess-like dungeon-area-thingy.
  4. Fix the cutscenes. If it's going to be on the PS3, you're going to need to use motion-caputure and whatnot. And please fix the expressions, make them like Uncharted or something.
  5. Add a sh!tload ton of new characters. Please. I don't care if they have nothing to do with the story or game, just add them. Like in all of those DBZ games, make them playable or something. I would love to stab Selphie with Auron's sword a billion times.
  6. Don't add any Cystal Chronicles characters.
  7. Don't force a huge story with all the characters in it. Let's say that we had 20 main characters, yes 20. It'll be virtually impossible making them equally important in one story. Instead, make seperate stories that in the end, integrate with each other, like what Dissidia is doing anyway. The only difference is make each of these stories longer.Fifteen hours oughtta do, right? Ok, that's a little too much, but make these stories long enough so we can get attached with the characters.
  8. Start this Dissidia in cycle one or two. At least we can have a lot of characters then.
  9. Do what you did in 012, make characters have grudges with each other. Didn't you love it when Lightning hated WoL's guts? MOAR please. (OK, SquallRocks, enough with story rambling...)
  10. And lastly, please please please add some sort of choices to the game. Something like in Mass Effect or in FallOut. Let the player control what's going to happen in the game. Have several endings, like in Heavy Rain.

What do you think? Do you agree with any of my ideas (hopefully at least 2...)? Do you want to add something? Do you think that this blog was utterly stupid and pointless becuase Square won't make another sequel? Comment comment comment!!!!
