Shale is an Eldite non-playable character in Final Fantasy XIV. As a member of Oblivion, she is the tech expert of the group and one of the founders of its modern incarnation.

History

Before Final Fantasy XIV

Shale was born in the Alexandria and wore a regulator. Being alive sometime after interdimensional fusion merged Alexandria with Yyasulani, it is implied she became friends with the Shetona Cahciua.^{[note 1]}

Shale worked as an adapter,^{[note 2]} until she lost someone close to her, implied to have been Cahciua,^{[note 1]}, with her memory of them being removed due to her regulator. Following her friend's death, Shale quit her job as an adapter, becoming a hostess at a bar, paid to "keep [patrons] company". It is there where she met Geode, where, during their first meeting they got into a shouting match and eventually a fistfight. It was at this point where she met the Endless Cahciua, piloting an outrunner drone, finding both drunk and laid out on the sidewalk.^[2]

Cahciua berrated the pair for causing a scene, disturbing others, and not taking care of themselves, suggesting that if they cared so little of themselves, they should join her cause: protecting the world outside the dome from Zoraal Ja. Cahciua taught Shale the importance of remembering those who passed, leaving to her removing her regulator.^[2]

Shale, Cahciua, and Geode eventually discovered the Backroom, base of organisation Oblivion—previous dissidents against the Alexandria built by Preservation. Though the Backroom was abandoned, records of the organisation still existed within. Taking their name, the trio resurrected the organisation, taking on their cause.^[2]

Appearance

Shale is light skinned Eldite with light brown short hair. She has a black choker and wears a short gray jacket with black gloves. She wears a white shirt with brown pants.

Personality

She is a woman that follows orders and remains calm and composed, though she has a hotheaded side when frustrated. She can be sarcastic, especially towards her comrade, Geode.
