Hypnotize (催眠, Saimin?; 催眠術?, さいみんじゅつ, Saimin Jutsu?, lit. Hypnosis), also known as Hypnosis, Hypno-sleep, and Mesmerize, is a recurring ability in the Final Fantasy series, most often used by enemies. It inflicts Sleep to one target.

Appearances

Final Fantasy III

Mesmerize is the level 1 ability used when summoning Shiva, which inflicts Sleep on all enemies with a 80% accuracy.

Final Fantasy IV

Tongue was renamed to Hypnosis for the Easy Type version. Hypnosis deals non-elemental damage and Sleep to one party member. It is used only by the Naga enemies.

Final Fantasy VIII

Hypnotize is an enemy ability used by Gayla, which inflicts Sleep to one party member.

Final Fantasy IX

Hypnotize is an enemy ability used by Black Waltz 2 and Hecteyes, which inflicts Sleep to one party member.

Final Fantasy XI

Hypnosis is an enemy ability that puts target in a cone area of effect in sight to sleep. It is used by the Ahriman family.

Final Fantasy Mystic Quest

Hypno-sleep is an enemy ability used by Dullahan, Ice Golem, Iflyte, Red Cap, and Thanatos. It inflicts Sleep to one party member.

Final Fantasy Legend III

Hypnosis is an enemy ability that inflicts one enemy with Sleep. It can be used by Centaur, Nitemare, Liz Duke, Liz King, Cracker, Commando, and Dwelg.
