Flare Blade in Final Fantasy V.

Flare Blade (フレア剣, Furea Ken?), also known as Flare Sword or simply Flare, is a recurring ability in the Final Fantasy series. It is usually the most powerful Spellblade ability available alongside Holy Blade, and usually requires having the Flare spell learned to use it. It has come to be associated with Adelbert Steiner, but others also use it.

Appearances

Final Fantasy V

Flare is a level 6 Spellblade ability that costs 30 MP to cast. It increases the user's Battle Power by 100 and ignores 75% of the enemy's Defense, making it the strongest Spellblade ability in the game.

Final Fantasy IX

Flare Sword is a Sword Magic ability for Steiner while Vivi is in the party. It costs 60 MP to cast for Steiner and increases Steiner's attack by 60.

Flare Blade is the Limit Burst for Steiner. At max rarity and fully powered, it deals 1 hit of physical damage with a modifier of 4.7x that ignores 50% DEF to one enemy.

Makenshi's brother, Madoushi is capable of using a powerful Flare Sword attack. Using this, he surges forward at his opponent, hitting them with a burst of fire with then culminating in a massive, sustained explosion.
