Just too much to ask to cut me one break, isn't it?

Sazh

Enlil is a boss in Final Fantasy XIII, fought alongside Enki by Vanille and Sazh at the Sunleth Waterscape. It is the smaller of the two woodwraiths, and has a lightning affinity.

Upon their defeat the Crystarium will expand to Stage Five.

The music for the battle is "Can't Catch A Break" rather than the usual boss theme.

After Bellow

Battle

Enlil uses Thunderburst at the start of the battle and after every three attacks, either a headbutt or a trample. When its HP falls below 70%, it uses Bellow to remove its status ailments and gain Bravery, Faith, Enthunder and Haste for 500 seconds. After Bellow it attacks with either a headbutt or a stomp, then uses Enraged, which does nothing, and Raging Tempest which hits around it.

Enlil's headbutt deals 109-120 damage (152-168 with Bravery) and its trample 149-156 damage (209-218 with Bravery) in front of it. Thunderburst deals 168-185 damage (235-259 with Faith) and can inflict Deprotect (95% for 120 seconds). Raging Tempest deals 176-194 damage to the party and 7104-7400 to Enki (247-271 and 9427-10,360 with Faith). Both Thunderburst and Raging Tempest deal lightning-elemental damage and ignore magic resistance.

Strategy

Enki has marginally more HP than Enlil, but the difference is not critical. The same strategy works on both.

The party should start in Tide Turner (SAB/SYN) paradigm and use a Librascope so Synergist AI will know which En-spells to use. Saboteur should focus on only one target to avoid dispelling the status enhancement. Once the party has Faith/Bravery and the correct En-effect, Dualcasting (RAV/RAV) should be used to quickly stagger the target and Slash & Burn (COM/RAV) to dispatch it. The staggered target should be kept stunlocked to prevent it from using Bellow. If Bellow is used, Divide & Conquer (SAB/COM) should be used to quickly reapply the debuffs.

Deprotect should be removed with Esuna. A Spark Ring can be equipped to reduce the damage taken from Thunderburst and Raging Tempest.
