Choco Pellets, also known as Choco Ball, is a enemy ability in Final Fantasy Tactics, used by certain monsters of the chocobo family. It deals physical damage to a single distant unit.

Monsters can be recruited to the player's party through the orator's Entice, or a different job equipped with the Speechcraft job command and the Beast Tongue support ability, or if the unit has the Tame support ability. Boko can be recruited to the player's party as part of the story in chapter 2, "The Manipulative & the Subservient", and will spawn eggs that may become black and red chocobos as well.

Choco Pellets is available to black and red chocobos by default.

Mechanics

Choco Pellets deals damage based on the following formula:

This means that the higher the chocobo's physical attack, the higher the damage dealt.

The ability's chance to hit is affected by the target's physical evasion.

Etymology

[view · edit · purge]The name "chocobo" derives from a Japanese brand of chocolate malt ball by Morinaga, ChocoBall (チョコボール, Chokobōru?). The mascot for this product is Kyoro-chan (キョロちゃん?), a bird who says "kweh".

食う / くう / kuu is a rough way to say "eat", whose volitional casual form is 食え / くえ / kue ("let's scoff 'em down!"), leading to Kweh!
