Range: 2Description in The Ivalice Chronicles
Cashmere is a cloth weapon in Final Fantasy Tactics, equippable by the female-exclusive dancer, as well as the onion knight in The War of the Lions version. Cloths have especially high rate of Parry.
Obtained
The player can buy cashmere for 15,000 gil in trading port outfitters after the events at the Walled City of Yardrow in chapter 3, "The Valiant". Trade ports are Dorter, Warjilis, and Sal Ghidos.
A roll of cashmere can also be found as a rare item through the chemist's Treasure Hunter movement ability in Lake Poescas (3,13 on a panel of height 4).
Mechanics
Cashmere deals damage based on the following formula when used with the Attack command:
The cashmere has a 50% chance to activate with Parry when attacked from the front or sides.
The roll of cashmere is incompatible with the samurai's Doublehand and the ninja's Dual Wield and Throw.
Cloths have a melee range of 2 tiles, same as polearms and poles. They have a reach of 3 tiles vertically, up and down.
Use
Cashmere is especially good for parrying, though Parry falls short of the samurai's Shirahadori. Cloths can only be equipped to dancers, who cannot parry while dancing. Their two-tile range can come to use to attack enemies with shorter range melee weapons, meaning they cannot counterattack the cloth-wielder. Cloths' damage is calculated from both the wielder's physical and magick attack, so the player can raise either stat to do more damage with cashmere.
Etymology
Cashmere is wool from certain breeds of goat.
